Stress

Evidence that stress has a direct effect on blood sugar: I checked BG 90 min. after dinner and it was 113. Then I had 4 hrs of a VERY stressful evening (related to work--I work at home) and bedtime BG was 174! YIKES!! Took an extra metformin even though it's above the maximum daily dosage. *Sigh!*

Update: It is now morning (March 18). Up again to work (after 3 hrs sleep) and BG is 76. Go figure! Just ate 1 oz. almonds to see if that will prevent a liver dump.

Another update: After eating the above almonds and then working for two hours, I checked my BG and it was 124. I went back to bed, slept for two hours, just now got up (for real) and checked again. It was 108. One thing, I don't think I'll ever die from blood sugar being too low! Obviously, my liver is working. Just. Fine.

Time Marches On

Another month has passed. I have met my goals for February in keeping daily carbs under 75 grams and calories under 1800. My average blood glucose readings have not dropped much (from 146 to 140), but my fasting blood glucose average has dropped from 160 to 138.

I have recorded my water intake and averaged 1.74 cups per day--a long way from the 8-cup minimum, but halfway toward my intermediate goal of 4 cups. I have recorded minutes of daily exercise and have averaged 16 minutes a day. I need to step it up a bit! Literally.

I think I'll reset my maximum HumulinN dosage to 30, both morning and bedtime and see how that works out.
